Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct primary health care system that combines both core scientific knowledge and evidence based medicine with traditional and natural forms of medicine. It incorporates the best of both eastern and western medicine. The core of the naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the innate healing power of the body and treat the underlying causes of disease. Symptoms of disease are seen as signals of dysfunction in the body and naturopathic medicine emphasizes the disease as a process rather than as an entity.

Treating a variety of both acute and chronic conditions, naturopathic treatments are chosen based on the individual patient – their physiological, structural, psychological, social, spiritual, environment and lifestyle factors. In addition to diet and lifestyle changes, natural therapies including botanical medicine, clinical nutrition (including injections and IVs), hydrotherapy, homeopathy, and acupuncture, may also be used during treatments.

*DID YOU KNOW: many extended medical benefit plans cover all or some of the cost of visiting a naturopathic doctor – check your plan to find out whether you are covered.
